Oil Rig Guide

Both Oil Rigs are offshore and require a boat to reach. Options:

• Motorboat: Cheapest option, spawns at harbors and fishing villages. Slow and vulnerable. Costs 250 scrap at Fishing Village.
• RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat): Faster and holds more players. Spawns rarely at harbors or buy at Large Fishing Village.
• Minicopter: Fastest approach but loud and visible. Costs 750 scrap at Bandit Camp.

Always bring Low Grade Fuel for your boat (at least 200 for a round trip). Park your boat at the bottom of the rig on the docking platform. Hide it behind structures if possible -- other players will steal or sink unattended boats.

Bring a spare set of diving gear (fins + wetsuit) in case you need to swim to your boat or escape underwater.

Small Oil Rig has approximately 10 scientists with 150 HP each (normal type). The layout is straightforward with 3 levels.

Clearing strategy: 1. Dock at the bottom level and clear 2-3 scientists on the platform 2. Move up the stairs to the second level, clearing scientists as you go 3. Reach the top level where the hackable locked crate is located 4. Clear remaining scientists around the crate 5. Hack the crate (15-minute timer)

Loadout: Semi-Auto Rifle or better, 100+ ammo, 5+ medical syringes, 10+ bandages. A silencer is helpful to avoid attracting other players.

Key point: Hacking the locked crate triggers a Chinook helicopter that drops reinforcement scientists. These Heavy Scientists have 300 HP and deal more damage. Prepare for 2-3 waves during the 15-minute hack timer.

Solo-friendly: Yes, with a SAR and patience. Take it slow and use cover. Budget 20-30 minutes for the full clear.

Large Oil Rig is significantly harder. 18+ Heavy Scientists with 300 HP each patrol multiple levels.

Clearing strategy: 1. Dock at the bottom and clear the dock area (3-4 scientists) 2. Take the main stairs up, clearing each level methodically 3. Use the pipe structures and containers for cover 4. Clear the top deck where the locked crate sits 5. Hack the crate and prepare for Chinook waves

Loadout: AK-47 or LR-300 (mandatory), 200+ ammo, 10+ medical syringes, 15+ bandages, full metal armor recommended.

Heavy Scientists are the main threat. They deal high damage and have 300 HP. Always fight them from behind cover. Peek, fire a burst, duck back, heal if needed, repeat. Do not tank their shots.

Loot: The locked crate on Large Oil contains the best loot in the game -- AKs, LR-300s, C4, Rockets, MLRS Rockets. Elite crates scattered around the rig provide additional high-tier items.

Solo-viable: Possible but very difficult. Bring at least 15 meds and 300 rounds of ammo. Budget 30-45 minutes.

The 15-minute hack timer is the most dangerous phase. The Chinook drops Heavy Scientist reinforcements, and other players may arrive by boat.

Defense tips: 1. After hacking, take a defensive position with sight lines on the crate and the water 2. Place sleeping bags on multiple levels so you can respawn quickly if killed 3. Watch for boats approaching -- other players will try to contest the crate 4. Fight Chinook scientists from the same cover positions you used during the initial clear 5. Have a teammate watch the docks and stairs while you handle the top deck

If another team arrives: - If they are boarding from the bottom, you have the height advantage - If they have a minicopter, they may land on the helipad -- watch the roof - You can lock doors on the rig (using door controllers if wired) to slow them down - If overwhelmed, consider grabbing the crate loot and jumping into the water to escape

Small Oil Rig total loot value: - 1 Hackable Locked Crate (top-tier weapons, explosives) - 1 Elite Crate (mid-to-high tier weapons, armor) - 3 Military Crates (components, mid-tier weapons) - Scientist drops (meds, ammo, scrap, HQM) - Total scrap value: 400-700 scrap per run

Large Oil Rig total loot value: - 1 Hackable Locked Crate (best loot in game) - 3 Elite Crates (high-tier weapons, armor) - 6 Military Crates (components, weapons) - Heavy Scientist drops (meds, ammo, scrap, HQM) - Total scrap value: 600-1200 scrap per run

Both rigs respawn approximately every 30-60 minutes after being fully looted. The locked crate specifically has a 2-hour respawn timer. Factor in boat travel time (5-10 minutes each way) when planning runs.
