The rarest CS2 skins are those with the 'Exceedingly Rare' drop rate from cases, which includes knives and gloves. Among weapon skins, Covert-grade skins like the AWP | Dragon Lore (from the Cobblestone Collection) and the AK-47 | Wild Lotus are among the rarest and most valuable. Souvenir versions of rare skins are even harder to find.
Every CS2 skin has a float value between 0.00 and 1.00 that determines its wear condition. Lower floats mean less visible wear. The five conditions are: Factory New (0.00-0.07), Minimal Wear (0.07-0.15), Field-Tested (0.15-0.38), Well-Worn (0.38-0.45), and Battle-Scarred (0.45-1.00). Not all skins can exist in every condition -- each has a minimum and maximum float range.
CS2 skin prices are determined by several factors: rarity (drop rate), demand and popularity, float value (lower is better), whether it has StatTrak or Souvenir status, the skin's visual appeal, and supply on the Steam Market. Limited skins from discontinued operations or rare collections tend to appreciate over time.
StatTrak is a special variant of CS2 weapon skins that tracks the number of kills you get with that weapon. StatTrak skins have an LED counter on the weapon model and are typically worth 2-10x more than their non-StatTrak counterparts. About 10% of skin drops from cases are StatTrak versions. The kill counter resets if the skin is traded.
